"Sometimes, people tend to forget the one thing that could bring happiness in life"
to make things worst..i watched "CINTA" and "Jangan Pandang Belakang" alone..so i was scared and sad simultaneously..besides Yasmin Ahmad movies, which i think are great...CINTA is pretty good. Its like the malayu version of "Love Actually" sometimes , i rase that it was cut and paste only tukar language jer...esp the flipchart thingie....its exactly, nonetheless...it was still good...although im sure we are capable of making something different and still make a good movie. What made me sad in this movie was dian & dhani story and the cikgu and cik rubi...sedih!. The same director made another movie that came out this year..(i only knew this after i googled him) called "Sepi" by Khabir Bhatia. Im a movie fan...and kalau boleh i would like to see more malay movies..but its always about love love love..and sangat jiwang...esp abang haslam's movies...i just cannot take it..arghhh...but im glad that malaysian movie makers takin it to the level and producing good movies these days...the latest movie we watched here was "Anak Halal"...though it was a bad...very bad copy..i enjoyed it..id say it has a pretty good story line..its funny to see maya karin cakap rempits..:).

Selamat Hari Bapa..
So pagi tadi, i sneaked in bubbles room to give my darlin caveman a kiss..and wished him happy father's day...still sleepy, he didnt even know that it was today.I gave him a teddy hug and went to call ayah, it was aroud 12.00 on a sunday...and if i guess correctly, he, mama and adek will still be at the dining table..talking after sunday breakie...and i was rite. Adek answered the phone..and i asked him what did u get ayah..and he said nothing...im like yeah rite...of course he got him something. My brother now takes responsibility to remember all the day important dates and buy them pressies or cards.
ayah came to the phone, wished him and told him that i love him.He sounded really happy and told me that adek n mama are taking him to carls jr to check out the new joint! with my dad...theres no need for words..he knows his kids and he knows how we feel about him...our dad is a great dad, of course when we were younger..he was very garang...but as we grew up, we change and become less notty and he did too,he become alot more relax and his temper as tone down abit.
I remember growin up, adek and i didnt always get what we wanted. Our dad was in the goverment servant and he didnt earn much, it was enuff to live a comfortable life but not lavish. SO being ignorant lil kids..we always wanted everything that other kids had...one time, i asked my dad for a racing bike (it cool to have one at the time) and he refused, he gave me many many reason but i knew that it was becoz it was super expensive...many fight and me locking myself in my room..and no racing bike came by...what arrived was a normal bike with a basket in front with a carrier at the back reason being it more suitable for girls arghhh!!!...yeah rite. I didnt acccept it but i dealed with it...and it took me 2 bike like that to finally get a moutain bike even then it was not a cool Le Run...but it was better then nothing..:D.Nonetheless, despite off the material things that we couldn't give us..he gave us..a safe home, educations, love and everything else..he did his best to give us everything.
My dad has been my mentor for as long as i remember from school right up to now...i still asked my dad for advice,he has thot me alot about getting around in this world and i thanks you ayah... I feel blessed to have parents like my ayah and mama...i could only wish that we could be as good as them for bubbles and her siblings..:P.

becoming jane
to my disappointment Good Luck Chuck was not working arghhhh...it started off ok but got stuck in the middle...so i had to switch to Becoming Jane. I loved movie adaptations from Jane Austen books, sadly..i owned 2 books written by her..but never read them..but i have watched most of the movies that was adapted from her books..Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice and now Becoming Jane..its not from one of her novel..but it was a story about her..and her love, the love that she never married..i always end up crying in a Jane Austen movie, the settings..the lines...and the story ahh soo romantic..all the men that cast for her movies as just dead romantic...come on who is not heads over heels with Mr Darcy...sigh..makes me wonder are all men of her time are like this...could we still find a Mr Darcy in our generation??? don't know....maybe they are..but in different forms..modernize some what. I found a post about Mr Darcy...and the Mr Darcy in our time...have a read....its very interesting and quite true.
In becoming jane..her BF was Tom Lefroy...not as strong as Mr Darcy..but very the sweetheart.
Best quotes:-
"What value will there ever be in life, if we are not together? – Tom Lefroy
" You must know how i feel, I'm yours heart and soul " - Tom Lefroy....
a classic....chick flick..:D
cravings 2.
this morning i tried making cupcakes by amy sedaris, i have no idea who she is..but apparently she is famous..and her cuppies was voted 2nd best in the city by New York...1st place goes to babycakes NYC.
fairly easy to make...no mess at all...its one of those dump it all recipes...and it worked..i have tried many recipes but this one is abit difference, the taste and texture is different then what i use to make before, i followed exactly as the recipe...the cupcakes came out like little domes...i was abit worried that it will sunk when i take it out...but nooo it didnt!!...hehe..happy camper me...
waited for my little domes to chilled...and tasting begins...hmmm..nice texture..fluffy..and very light... not too sweet. Sedap!..recipe for keeps!...i got 17 out of the recipe...but i guess u could get more if u put less in each cups..the recipe said you could get 24 cuppies.
Amy Sedaris' Cupcakes
1 ½ sticks of unsalted butter
1 ¾ cups of sugar
Beat well, then add:
2 large eggs
2 Teaspoons of pure vanilla
½ teaspoon of salt
2 ½ teaspoons of baking powder
2 ½ cups of flour
1 ¼ cups of milk
Beat well, fill cups, and bake at 375 degrees for 18-20 minutes.
You should get 24 cuppies
now...i have to think about the topping, til now i still havent found the perfect buttercream recipe...somehow buttercream and me are not best of frens...so thats why i always make cream cheese topping or use the ready made frosting from auntie betty. I bought a tube of cherry frosting and i tried it just now....ewwwww no way thats going to my topping...
too tired to think rite now....imm figure it out in the morning...:D

cravings...
my baby is home.
When bubbles was born, we almost sold the car...coz we thot that it might be too small for us now...bubbles was small..but her other stuff was filling up the car...her huge peg perego stroller filled up 75 percent of the boot!!!.the idea of a new car came up..but we never did it and im glad we didnt. So before moving out to cairo..i knew was gonna be jobless for months...maybe forever..( couldnt decide then..:) )so i put the car up for rent and to my suprise someone did want to rent my car! he was a good fren of mine from work...my walking buddy to KLCC every morning and also my stress release buddy at work! we i had two..he was one of them..:D.
In the end..it was a win win situation...i got someone to pay my installment and he got a good car.
Since adek is back from uni..and started working, he had been using mama's car..and mama is left with nothing to drive...which is stessing her out coz my mum sometimes like to jalan jalan kota raya..eventhough she dont go very far...but she like to be able to drive when ever she wants, so now she has to wait for my dad or adek to drive her...and i on the other hand started to work again, which means i can now pay for my car again...then the when all this was happening, my fren told me that he is getting another car..and that he will not need my car anymore...im like..brilliant! the timing could not have been any better...:).
So semalam, adek when to pick up the car from him..and its safe at home again...my baby is back!
the ting tings...what????
thats not my name...thats not my name...thats not my name....kekekeke...im sure this is a one hit wonder!!!..like spaceman...remember..
the chipmunks version is soo cute..
vs
online bookings...
caveman has gone completely excited about our little vacation in july..i was giving him shit about not being excited a week back..coz he was taking his time...and not doing any booking etc...but after i have him a peice of my mind...,he started to plan...hehehe....im a nasty wife aren't i! :)
so he's duty was to get all the flights and trains arrangement done..and i was responsible of the hotels...so yesterday nite...i spent all nite looking for places to stay in Nice, Paris and London...with bubbles traveling....i had to be abit picky...we cant really stay in a dump u know what i mean....i need at least a decents clean place fit for a baby..having said this..the price aint cheap either...also july is peak season...most of the hotels are all bookedd up..and selections are limited...:(
i have never done any bookin thru the internet and was abit worried if it went thru...the 1st booking i did in nice was thru http://emea.hotels.com/ and got a very good deal for a hotel in Nice and called them yesterday to comfirm our bookings..good news they have received it!...and the one in Paris and london is done from booking.com...got a decent deal at holiday villa,london...hope the bookings went thru we a have a place to stay....:).
we are all set, counting the days..and time to brush up on the french...au revoir!

the graveyard shift
due to the low activity lately, i have been coming home at midnite to continue work at home..i still do the 12 hrs deed but in the comfort of my own home...nice innit! i wish i could do this everyday. Not to mention that power at the office keep dying on me....sekali...dua kali...tiga kali...the fourth time..i surrender..i cannot work like this...so this is another reason why i've decided to work from home..and also me and hassan..my work partner made a deal.....whenever there is one job thats active...we work from home...:) hey that works for me :D.
alot pll asked me...how do i do the graveyard shift??....dont u get scared? hmm...well the moment the clock struck 12am, i lock the door and i stay inside til 7..hehe..but lastnite..i had to go the other office to scan some doc and it was 1am... the nite was chilly and windy..suddenly i found myself walking really fast almost like runnin...to the front office..i dont know what i was running for...i guess i just wanted to get it done and go back to my domain...where i feel safe. So got back to my office and went back to work..then i realise..its not so bad here working at nite..i mean i use to think that its scary to be outside but now...i think i'll be alrite...although dont think ill be wondering outside unnecessarily..kekekke.
i guess its abit different here then back home..u know all the myth and taboo of hantu sini sane...over here..you dont get much stories like that. I have asked a fren about it..and he said that there is no such things..of course they are jins, syaitan etc..tapi nothing as scary as what we hear back home. phewwww...however he did tell me to recited a few ayat ayat in case i get scared.
but get this...i googled graveyard shift and guess what..i found something more scary then the ghouls, its cancer. this is the 1st time im hearing this..but their theory seems pretty reliable..

cant get enough of it
there is not a kid in the world who doesnt like cartoon..and my bubbles is no exception. Usually, when im at home,we will go to the singing class at Pop In..but today..she woke up 10:30 and we missed it. Her new addiction is Jim Jam on Showtime, which i think it good too, its has some educational values to it and she love it...i noticed that since she been watching this she has picked up some new words and sentences too.
if i need to do something in the kicthen...ill turn this on..she be occupied for hours...:). her fav is of course sape lagi kalau tak Barney... ( i still dont understand how this purple thing has soo much effects on kids??? ) and now..she loves oswald and ruberdabers.....its very cute..
slowily she asking for nemo and happy feet less and less...and on occasion...she'll asked for abang kakak.. the iqra cd..hehehe...
I usually limits her tv watching to 2hrs aday..and thats after school..but since today its a weekend and its alittle treat for her...i have been watching nothing but cartoon since 11am...sigh!!!...
good friday
After the hearty lunch...we were the last customer to leave..hehehe..we head to citystar, the plan was to take her to the Rainforest cafe..i heard that it was a good place for kids..but some did say it could be abit scary...so we got the cafe, suprisingly it was crowded, i was carrying bubbles, all of the sudden she help me tight and said mummy 'akut'...'akut'..at 1st i didnt know what was she scared of..then i saw....this huge phyton on the tree...well it was fake phyton..but it was huge and it was movin...then to teh left there was a big crocky with his gob shut and open..gnap...gnap..hehehe..no wonder she was scared...so we ended up leaving to starbucks instead.
the 1st HnM opened in Cairo on thursday, which is great...coz i have always been a fan of HnM since my uni years...besides Oxfam, salvation army and other 2nd hand shops...most of my clothes was from HnM...coz they were cheap and stylo, so on the day they open, shilme went and she said it was like a tin of sardins..full and the women was going crazy so yesterday...it was abit clear but stilll it was impossible to buy anything or to even pick out anything...i however managed to grab a skirt...but with just one item...it took me 1hr to get to the fitting room..wait for a room..and then go to the cashier then wait to pay and get out of the store safely....i kid u not its like a jungle in there. So....will i go there again...i think ill leave it for a few month till all the egyptians are over with their HnM fever.
when home...and watch a movie with caveman til 2am. U'll be suprise....we haven't watch a movie together in along time...thanks to my crazy work hours..arghhhh i hate myself!!!..
so...ill say i had a good day, well spent!

Today was my lil brother birthday..well he is not little anymore, today he turn 26 yrs old. My adek and i was born 3 year apart,we had always been good frens...of course there was time when we would fight and argue and there are time when we will be giggling til we cry. My adek is funny person....but being Gemini...he can also be a very angry person...:) but overall he is a great little bro...
last year i didn't spent much time with him as he was in the UK and then i was here....and i missed him, so on the way back to KL after finishing UNi...he stayed here for almost a month...i wanted him to stay longer but he was eager to start working etc....the time he spend here was good....bubbles got to know him and he go to hang out with bubbles which i really cool...now everytime bubbles see his picture...she will go...achuuuu..short for pok chu..cute kan...

soup of the day
i came home this morning, hungry,,,,didn't have anything to eat lastnite except from some buns filled with pringles...yucky??? no no its yummy...:).
so when i got home..i knew exactly what i wanted to eat when i woke up today...chicken soup with chickpeas...a recipe thot by my Iraqi yummymummy Wid Muhammad...its easy ,simple and very comforting. I've made it before and seems to go down well with caveman an bubbles so it one dish for all....wooohoo!
went in the kitchen, took the chicken out and zzzzzzz..when i woke up, i realise that i took the wrong chicken out, instead of cut chicken pieces i took the boneless slice chicken out..arghhhhh!!! i must be dreaming this morning. So i cooked sambal ayam for caveman to survive on for a day or 2 and make me chicken soup....its still simmering as I'm writing this...cant wait to slurppppp...
I like chickpeas..and for the longest time have cans of it in the cupboard not knowing what to do with them...so now all my cans are gone...time to buy some more...:)
Chicken Chickpea Soup (Wid Muhammad's Recipe)
8 pieces of chicken ( with bones preferably )
1 big Bombay onion ( sliced )
1 big lemon pr 2 small lemon ( up to your lemony levels )
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 can of chickpeas in water or brine ( please remove the skin out )
3 medium size potatoes
1.5 litre of water ( big mineral water bottle )
1 tbsp olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
Method
1. Fry onion til soft
2. Add in the chicken pieces and fry with the onion until slightly brown
3. Add in the water...and let its boil for a while and turmeric powder
4. Until the chicken seems soft and tender...add the potatoes
5. Then add the lemon juice
6. Let it boils again til the potatoes are cooked and add in the chickpeas.
7. Simmer for 10 to 15 mins and its ready to eat.
This soup is best eaten with some Iraqi bread...but i guess any crusty bread with be just as good!
OK time hit the showers......:)

Ayat ayat cinta
kak pa sent this book to me..all the way from KL so that i can read the book. How far have i gotten so far...yesterday morning i read one chapter before going to bed...im in chapter 6 now...and i have a long way to go.
We have the movie but she told me to finish the book 1st then watch the movies..so since she insisted....i will continue to read the book then watch the movie.
Its a thick book...419 pages..I was thinking..if i read one chapter a day before going to bed...i will be able to finish it within a month insyallah..
I have heard of ravs about this book esp from the indonesian yummies here...it felt close to the heart coz it was written based on an al-azhar student in cairo. Im in chapter 6 now..and i can imagine everything in my head pretty clear...what is written in the book about cairo..is all true!...hot summer winds...the metro stations..pll scream and looking for fights..etc its all cairo babe!
Reading this book reminds me of Pak Aep..my ustaz mengaji, a student at al azhar too...a kind man that is very humble and will answer every question u ask him without hesitation...eventhough it might sound silly. Never have i meet an ustaz like him and im glad that met. Its been awhile since ive been to my classes..yet he still keeps me updated.May Allah bless Pak Aep and his thesis...:)
wassup karipap!!
the last time i was back in KL...she made me some...tak sempat nak bawak sini dah habis dah....:).I can still remember how it tasted like..of all the karipap...i like karipap sardin the best! ..another place where i usually get karipap sardin is in ampang jaya...at the little corner shop near 7-eleven...tapi abit mahal la kan...tapi rasa ada! and also my canteen sekolah use to sell them too...sedap,15 cent satu...back in the 90s..!
since sini takde org nak buat kat i..i had to make it myself...so yesterday, i asked my cooking guru here in cairo for the recipe. I prepared everything but by the time i wanted to uli the karipap..i was too tired and need to sleep before starting my shift again at 9pm..it was 3 pm at the time and i haven't slept in 24hrs....
So this afternoon after sleeping from 10 to 4pm..i woke and start making my karipap..unfortunately it karipa daging n potatoes this time..no sardin available.:(.
how was the results...very well done, im happy...finally dpt makan karipap!i only had two before i left to work..and now its 5am..im thinking about them..and i hope my caveman n little cavebaby didnt eat it up!
